These are personal reports from some of our comedians about their experiences in being part of our performance group.

Joining this group has been a fantastic experience and has given me so many wonderful opportunities.  Performing in venues with great crowds and amongst very talented comedians.  Sean does a wonderful job in promoting not just the shows but also the comedians and has helped raise our profile and have created a very supportive environment.

Sean is always willing to share his knowledge and offer constructive feedback.  Sean has given me numerous ideas, particularly with marketing and he helped me with my poster for my Sydney Fringe show which helped increase my ticket sales.

As a direct result of being a part of this group I have been able to get more paid gigs for private functions and have gained so much more stage time. My advice to anyone who wants to be a part of this group is to register and join now. You will be a part of a group that is extremely supportive and will get so much out of the experience.

I joined the group in September 2015.  What I like about the shows is that they are set up well. The venues are picked to suit the style of show. They have audience numbers, which allows that experience and exposure to large crowds.

For me, the best aspects of being in this group are getting an opportunity to perform to larger audiences and having booked gigs.  When a show is advertised to the group there’s no obligation to do the show.  If you say no that doesn’t mean you can’t perform on another date.  There are opportunities to do longer spots.

The whole group is awesome. They are supportive and welcoming of new comics to the group.  Everyone wants the shows to be a positive experience for the comics and the audience.  Everyone’s just keen to perform and get the name out there.

As a result of being in this group, I have had some of my best gigs to date. I’ve had the opportunity to MC at gigs to sold out rooms.  I’ve been paid for my time from gigs that have turned a profit.  I’ve grown in confidence and ability as a comic since being part of the group and having the chance to work with an outstanding line up of comics from all over Sydney.

We had some free marketing workshops which I found to be extremely helpful in learning how to promote my own comedy shows and market myself better so that people who say me and like my style of comedy could find me on line and via social media.

If you are considering applying to join, I would say, “GO FOR IT”.  Sydney comedy can come competitive especially if you are trying to get more gigs.  Getting your face and name out there is tough.  Being part of the group has allowed me to do more of that.  It’s something I was personally struggling to do before the group was formed. What have you got to lose?

I got on board with the group in March, 2016.

The gigs are always great fun and most of the gigs have been sold out and the crowds are always up for a good laugh.

Also you get to spend time with some great comedians. But most of all you get to perform before some really great crowds. Way bigger than 80% of the gigs I do!

What I like most about the group is that the other comedians are warm friendly people. No divas! The comedians are very supportive and want you to do well.

If you think you are a good fit for the group, my tip would be to not be a diva. There is no star of the show as such. This is a showcase and as a team of comedians we’re there to give the audience a fun memorable night. And you’ll have fun too of course!
