SUREN JAYEMANNE will be hitting the Giant Dwarf Theatre on Wednesday, 30th August with a special one-off encore of his 2017 festival show, “Deus Eczemachina”. This performance will be recorded for broadcast in 2018.
Lock up your mothers. As a young, brown, intellectual beta-male, Suren is the poor rich-woman’s Waleed Aly. Growing up Sri Lankan, with eczema, Deus Eczemachina is Suren’s journey to discover which is the worse skin condition to have in contemporary Australia.
In 2014, Suren was selected by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival directors for their Comedy Zone showcase for the best up and coming acts in the country. A year later, in 2015, Suren’s first solo stand up show featured in Sydney Comedy Festival’s FRESH program for emerging acts. Suren describes his approach to comedy as “first build trust, then pull out the rug”.
With sold out shows in Melbourne and Sydney Comedy Festival and a style that is provocative yet easy going, Suren is quickly establishing himself as a must-see act in Australia’s comedy scene.
This is a strictly limited one off show – don’t miss this opportunity to see one of Australia’s freshest comedic voices.
