The thinking person’s idiot, Sean Morahan is a comedian and writer, physically based in Sydney and mentally based at an Australia v West Indies test cricket match at Adelaide Oval in the 80s.
Jaded by the unrelenting and excruciating highs of working as a car salesman, private investigator and builder’s labourer, Sean yearned for the sombre drudgery of making people laugh for a living, without offering them a trade-in price, showing them photos of their spouse’s new lover or falling off some scaffolding.
After his comedy epiphany while seeing Jimmy Carr live in Dublin in early 2013, Sean enrolled in a comedy course, lured by the promise of performing in a pub as the ‘graduation’. When the organiser threatened to cancel the pub show because so many graduates had cancelled (due to nerves), Sean offered to perform two sets to fill the time, so he got his first two performances out of the way in one night.
Sean subsequently staggered onto Australia’s comedy stages and has remained there despite the persistent crowbars, baseball bats and the pleas for him to go home.
Inspired by his comedy heroes, Ali G and the Australian Federal Parliament, his performances are a subtle blend of the chutzpah of the former and the drinks bill of the latter.
He has performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and Sydney Fringe Festival.

He has written and performed two solo shows: 1 Liner and 2 Way Street, as well as produced comedy shows: 10 Comedians, 7 Comedians, Ha Ha Harbour Cruise Comedy, Secret Comedy Club, A Complete Guide to The Internet and Comedian of The Year.
He also promotes other comedians’ shows and has a strong track record of helping them sell out their shows.
In 2017 he hosted Big Poppa Sean’s Comedy Quiz, a series of comedy trivia competitions conceived by his colleague Te Rina Taite.
In 2018, Sean won the Sydney Fringe Festival’s Spirit of the Fringe Award.
In 2019, 10 Comedians was nominated for Best Comedy show at Sydney Fringe Festival.
In 2022, Sean accepted an invitation to curate the comedy programme for the inaugural Sydney Fringe Sideshow Festival in The Rocks, Sydney and produced 40 comedy shows, performed over 9 nights.
And yes, he is aware he has more than a passing resemblance to Hank from ‘Breaking Bad’. But he thanks all the hecklers for asking!
