About the Show
One of the good ones
Definition: A backhanded compliment said by bigots. Typically describes a person of colour who is complicit, and/or agrees with the bigot’s social and political values.
One of the Good Ones is about race, relationships and successfully failing to meet expectations. This show is Harry Jun’s lighthearted and heavy handed approach to uncomfortable situations like the time someone came up to him after a show and told him he loved Triple J and was stoked that Harry was hosting it now*.
The popular comic’s new show is a funny deep-dive into the often difficult and painful journey that people who are labelled ‘different’ face when they join and navigate Australian culture.
Harry’s show explores and challenges some of the racism and stereotyping he’s faced in his life, but with a friendly side-splitting vibe.
“It’s a tongue-in-cheek look over my shoulder growing up in Australia,” he says.
If you’ve ever been called “One of the Good Ones” then this show is for you. If you’ve ever called someone “One of the Good Ones” this show is especially for you.
*Triple J is hosted by Michael Hing, not Harry Jun.
