Comedian Fiona Cox
Like a modern-day light-bulb, Fiona’s comedy can be described as energy-saving. She doesn’t use much power to deliver her punchlines, but they hit hard. Her delivery is slower than Australian … Read more
Our very first show in 2015 featured three women comedians, including a woman headliner closing the show. Since then, we have consistently had awesomely funny women comedians as part of our shows’ line-ups.
GREAT MIX OF COMEDIANS IN OUR SHOWS
Depending on their availability to perform when our shows are on, women comedians feature prominently in our shows – generally 30-60% of our shows’ line-ups are women. On the multiple occasions where our lineups have comprised 60% female comedians, no one from the audience has commented on the gender mix of the line-up or how many women were on stage – just that the show was great and they had an awesome time! We’re a bit chuffed to be part of making this the new normal in comedy.
AUDIENCES LOVE THE MIX
Regularly, some of the best audience feedback we get from our comedy shows is specifically for how good the performances of our women comedians were.
COMEDY SUCCESSES
As well as being popular performers in our shows, the women on our roster also do one of the toughest jobs in comedy when they frequently MC our shows – keeping our audiences laughing between acts.
Most have written and performed their own solo shows (usually an hour or more of solid comedy). Two performed solo shows that were nominated for ‘Best Comedy’ at the Sydney Fringe Festival.
Several have performed overseas, including popular comedy clubs in New York, London and at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Most of them have performed on Comedy Cruises.
OUR MIX REFLECTS OUR AUDIENCES
Even our audience mix is consistently at least 50% women so it makes even more sense that the happy coincidence of gender balance in our comedy shows seems to further bolster the popularity of our shows.
