Comedian Fiona Cox

Fiona Cox Comedian

Like a modern-day light-bulb, Fiona’s comedy can be described as energy-saving. She doesn’t use much power to deliver her punchlines, but they hit hard. Her delivery is slower than Australian internet speeds, but her jokes never fail.

Fiona has performed comedy all over Sydney for 4 years, which is longer than a Hollywood marriage but shorter than the movie Titanic.

After spending a decade writing ads for some of the biggest brands in the world, Fiona decided to stop writing jingles for cheeseburgers, face creams and fast cars and instead write jokes about coffins and the c-word. While she’s left the ad world behind, she’s probably encountered more mad men in comedy than she ever did in advertising.

Fiona got into comedy because she’s a middle child and is desperately seeking attention. She’s also barely 5-foot, so she enjoys the thrill of standing on stage and looking at the tops of people’s heads for a change.

She hates telling people that she does stand-up comedy because they always follow up with, “Say something funny” or “You should MC our wedding.” She wishes they would follow up with, “Let me buy you a drink.”

Fiona’s shared the stage with some of Australia’s top comedians, but she still thinks that the best comedians in the world are cats. She one day hopes to master their hilarious combination of evil overlord and cute companion.

She likes to uncover the funny in unfunny places and enjoys finding new and original takes on familiar topics. She’s sometimes dark and always smart. But her handshake needs some work.

While she’s busy studying the comedic timing of cats, in the meantime she’ll just follow her uncle’s advice – “Get ‘em drunk. They’ll think everything is funny. And if they don’t, they won’t remember you anyway.”

Want to catch some big laughs from one of Sydney’s smallest comedians? Come see Fiona.
